Lancaster Bomber Engraved Whisky Tumbler with Handmade Polished Pewter Base
Lancaster Bomber Engraved Whisky Tumbler with Handmade Polished Pewter Base
Our Lancaster Bomber Engraved Whisky Tumbler is one of the more historically loaded pieces in our aviation range — a properly weighted whisky tumbler with the mighty Avro Lancaster beautifully engraved on the side of the glass, set into a handmade pewter base polished to a high shine. The pewter wraps around the bottom of the tumbler, lifting it from a glass into something considerably more substantial.
The Lancaster was Britain's heaviest hitter of the Second World War — the four-engine bomber that carried the weight of Bomber Command's war on its wings, and the aircraft used in the Dambusters raid. Its crews called her "the Lanc," and only two remain airworthy anywhere in the world. As a symbol to raise a glass to, it's about as serious as they come. (If it's the fighter you're after, see our Spitfire tumbler — this one is for the crews who flew the long, cold, dangerous nights.)
The pewter base is handmade at our Birmingham workshop in some of the finest British Pewter, polished by hand to a bright finish. The tumbler holds 300ml — a generous measure for a fine single malt, a favourite bourbon, or anything else worth raising — and weighs 415g, giving it the substantial, properly-grounded feel that the best whisky glassware always has.
Add a personal engraving to the glass to turn it into a one-of-a-kind keepsake. For the full experience, you can add a set of stainless steel whisky stones, which chill a dram without ever diluting it. It arrives presented in a gift box, making it a perfect gift for RAF veterans, Bomber Command families, aviation enthusiasts, retiring pilots, Father's Day, milestone birthdays, or for yourself, why not.

A E Williams (Est 1779) Ltd is one of Britain's oldest pewter makers, still run by the family that founded it nearly 250 years ago.
The story began when Thomas Williams started a small workshop making flatware and dishes from his home on the Welsh border, and from there the craft passed down through eight generations of the same family, all the way to Rebecca Johnson, who joined the business in 2015.
Today we're based at our workshop in Digbeth, Birmingham, where we've been since the early 1970s.

We work from a collection of over 1,500 antique bronze moulds, some of which are centuries old. Many were made by hand long before machine tooling existed, and we still use them today, alongside moulds and skills of our own, to produce pieces with the kind of character that mass production simply can't replicate.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At A E Williams, the materials we work with have been chosen over nearly 250 years of making things properly. Pewter sits at the heart of everything we do, but we also work with slate, glass, leather, and wood — each selected because it brings something the others can't: a different feel, a different occasion, a different kind of beauty.
Whatever you're looking for, every material we use is chosen to last, and to look better for it.
