Eagle Engraved Whisky Tasting Glass

Britain lost its eagles for a while — the golden eagle was wiped out from England and Wales by the early twentieth century, hunted, poisoned and driven from every last territory. Today it soars again over Scotland, and slowly across northern England, thanks to a proper conservation success story. There are few sights more stirring than a golden eagle riding a Highland thermal. Our Eagle Engraved Whisky Taster brings that presence to a curved, tulip-shaped nosing glass — the classic taster silhouette that tapers inward at the top to concentrate the whisky's aroma exactly where it needs to be.

The eagle head design is beautifully engraved onto the glass, feather detail rewarding a proper look up close. Personal engraving is available for a small surcharge: add a name, initials, a date or a short message to turn it from a fine gift into something properly personal.

The glass holds around 180ml, stands 90mm tall and weighs approximately 130g — a comfortable dram size for a Highland malt, an Islay smoker, or whichever whisky has earned its place on the top shelf. It arrives in a gift box, ready to give for a Highland walker with binoculars round their neck, an RSPB member, a country sports enthusiast, a milestone birthday, Father's Day, Burns Night, or a retirement gift. Gift wrap is available for a small additional fee.

A Pewter Maker picking up an Antique Mould

A E Williams (Est 1779) Ltd is one of Britain's oldest pewter makers, still run by the family that founded it nearly 250 years ago.

The story began when Thomas Williams started a small workshop making flatware and dishes from his home on the Welsh border, and from there the craft passed down through eight generations of the same family, all the way to Rebecca Johnson, who joined the business in 2015.

Today we're based at our workshop in Digbeth, Birmingham, where we've been since the early 1970s.

OUR STORY
Pouring molten pewter into a bronze mould

We work from a collection of over 1,500 antique bronze moulds, some of which are centuries old. Many were made by hand long before machine tooling existed, and we still use them today, alongside moulds and skills of our own, to produce pieces with the kind of character that mass production simply can't replicate.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At A E Williams, the materials we work with have been chosen over nearly 250 years of making things properly. Pewter sits at the heart of everything we do, but we also work with slate, glass, leather, and wood — each selected because it brings something the others can't: a different feel, a different occasion, a different kind of beauty.

Whatever you're looking for, every material we use is chosen to last, and to look better for it.
