Pewter and Glass Highland Cow Quaich Bowl
Charming, characterful, and unmistakably Scottish, this Pewter and Glass Highland Cow Quaich Bowl is a truly irresistible piece that brings a warm smile to every face that sees it. Beautifully handcrafted, the twin handles are formed in the shape of the much-loved Highland cow — with every shaggy detail lovingly captured in fine pewter — whilst warm amber yellow stones set into both the handles and the decorative base add a rich, golden glow that perfectly echoes the colours of the Scottish Highlands in autumn.
The intricate Celtic knotwork running along the pewter rim and throughout the base is exquisitely detailed, weaving together Scotland's ancient artistic heritage with the playful charm of its most iconic and beloved animal. The combination of sparkling clear glass and richly detailed handcrafted pewter gives this quaich a wonderful warmth and character that makes it equally at home on a drinks table, a mantelpiece, or wrapped up as a very special gift.
Measuring approximately 10cm in diameter and weighing a satisfying 210g, this quaich sits comfortably in the hands and has an immediate quality feel that is apparent from the very first moment you pick it up. Presented complete in a gift box and ready to give straight from the shelf, this Highland cow quaich is a perfect gift for Burns Night suppers, Scottish weddings, Highland gatherings, and for anyone who has ever fallen completely and utterly in love with the Highlands and everything in them.

A E Williams (Est 1779) Ltd is one of Britain's oldest pewter makers, still run by the family that founded it nearly 250 years ago.
The story began when Thomas Williams started a small workshop making flatware and dishes from his home on the Welsh border, and from there the craft passed down through eight generations of the same family, all the way to Rebecca Johnson, who joined the business in 2015.
Today we're based at our workshop in Digbeth, Birmingham, where we've been since the early 1970s.

We work from a collection of over 1,500 antique bronze moulds, some of which are centuries old. Many were made by hand long before machine tooling existed, and we still use them today, alongside moulds and skills of our own, to produce pieces with the kind of character that mass production simply can't replicate.
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At A E Williams, the materials we work with have been chosen over nearly 250 years of making things properly. Pewter sits at the heart of everything we do, but we also work with slate, glass, leather, and wood — each selected because it brings something the others can't: a different feel, a different occasion, a different kind of beauty.
Whatever you're looking for, every material we use is chosen to last, and to look better for it.
