Burning teeth that had fallen out used to be a massive ritual in Medieval Europe and in England for reasons such as, to prevent hardship in the afterlife and due to a fear of witches, thinking that if a witch would get hold of one's teeth, it would lead to them having total power over the child. 
In the Norse culture, children's teeth and other articles belonging to children were said to bring good luck in battle. Scandinavian warriors used to hang children's teeth on a string around their necks.
