Triple Swirl Hip Flask

Brushed stainless steel hip flask featuring a central circular pewter medallion with an intricate Celtic triskele triple spiral, displayed outdoors on a wet stone with purple heather in the background

Triple Swirl Hip Flask

Carry a good measure of whisky with you. The Triple Swirl Pewter Hip Flask sets a hand cast pewter triple swirl motif against a polished stainless steel body, 135mm tall and 170g empty.

It measures 95mm across, solid enough to sit properly in a jacket pocket without dragging it out of shape. This is a flask built to be used, filled with a favourite whisky, a smooth brandy or whatever is saved for the right moment. It can be engraved with a name, a date or a personal message, which turns a good gift into a keepsake.

The triple swirl comes from Celtic art, three interlinked spirals that traditionally stand for life, death and rebirth. It is heavy meaning for a pocket sized object, though the flask carries it lightly. The pewter motif is hand cast at our Birmingham pewter workshop and set against the clean lines of the steel body. It arrives in a gift box with a funnel, ready for weddings, Christmas or a birthday.

A Pewter Maker picking up an Antique Mould

A E Williams (Est 1779) Ltd is one of Britain's oldest pewter makers, still run by the family that founded it nearly 250 years ago.

The story began when Thomas Williams started a small workshop making flatware and dishes from his home on the Welsh border, and from there the craft passed down through eight generations of the same family, all the way to Rebecca Johnson, who joined the business in 2015.

Today we're based at our workshop in Digbeth, Birmingham, where we've been since the early 1970s.

OUR STORY
Pouring molten pewter into a bronze mould

We work from a collection of over 1,500 antique bronze moulds, some of which are centuries old. Many were made by hand long before machine tooling existed, and we still use them today, alongside moulds and skills of our own, to produce pieces with the kind of character that mass production simply can't replicate.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

At A E Williams, the materials we work with have been chosen over nearly 250 years of making things properly. Pewter sits at the heart of everything we do, but we also work with slate, glass, leather, and wood — each selected because it brings something the others can't: a different feel, a different occasion, a different kind of beauty.

Whatever you're looking for, every material we use is chosen to last, and to look better for it.
